When it comes to buying tires, the standard advice has long been to just buy Michelins. They won’t be as cheap as some of the other tires the store sells, but you will get a fantastic tire that is essentially guaranteed to be the best or one of the best tires available for your car. Moreover, they are guaranteed to last much longer than many unknown budget tires. That said, in a head-to-head comparison test, they’re not exactly guaranteed to destroy every other tire on the market every time, as our friends at Tire Reviews recently proved. – Collin Woodard Read more

The current Alfa Romeo Giulia certainly has its flaws, but it is also beautiful and an absolute pleasure to drive. So when the electric version finally hits the market (now in 2026), we really hope it gets a nicer interior and better reliability without losing its excellent driving character. Unfortunately for us, it will be a while before we find out, but when CEO Jean Philippe Imparato recently spoke to Motor1, he revealed that the new Giulia will be built on the same STLA Large modular platform as the Dodge Charger Daytona EV. – Collin Woodard Read more

The government’s crackdown on illegal diesel mods created a black market for sketchy tunes

If you have something really heavy to tow, you’d think a new heavy-duty pickup would be more than enough to haul it. The 2023 Ford Super Duty, for example, can be ordered with a 6.7-liter turbodiesel that produces 1,200 lb-ft of torque and can tow up to 40,000 pounds. For many diesel enthusiasts, however, that’s not enough to do any “real” work, and the only solution is to get rid of the emissions equipment; the planet and the law be damned. And now that the Environmental Protection Agency is finally cracking down on illegal diesel modifications, a new black market has emerged. – Collin Woodard Read more

The Tesla Cybertruck is probably the perfect car to survive the apocalypse. Not only can you outfit it with a $3,000 tent, but it’s also bulletproof. Take that, a roving gang of post-apocalyptic car thieves. Okay, technically the glass itself isn’t exactly bulletproof, so that could become a problem if someone ever shoots you, but at least the body panels keep you safe, right? Well, as one YouTuber recently discovered, that really depends on what kind of weapons the bad guys are carrying. – Collin Woodard Read more

As the future appears to be served by fully electric vehicles with fewer moving parts that require less frequent maintenance, automakers have begun looking for other sources of revenue. One such road leads straight to hell: subscription-based features. Automakers will build vehicles with features, lock those features behind software, and then force you to pay for them. Audi, which has already been testing subscription-based features, is now diving right in with its updated A3 for European buyers. -Lawrence Hodge Read more

Police in Canada’s largest city are encouraging residents to avoid violent encounters with criminals by making it easy to access car keys during home burglaries. Car thefts in Toronto have increased 300 percent in one year, and police can’t keep up. – Ryan Erik Koning Read more
